Workshop Description

Currently brand safety is top of mind for advertisers. To help buyers feel more secure when buying digital media IAB Canada has committed to providing support by offering a special workshop series entitled Brand Safety for Digital Buyers.

The workshop will outline the key issues affecting the supply chain and review best practices for brand safe media execution. We will cover some of the technical requirements that agencies and marketers should be looking for from their ad tech vendors as standard best practice to create a safe buying environment and share tactical process practices that can be implemented right away to ensure brand safety is being addressed across the entire organization.

Finally, the workshop will provide hands-on training on the technical implementation of brand safety features in the field. We will cover the most popular platforms to provide participants with confidence in execution immediately following the session.

Workshop Agenda

1pm - 2:25pm: Brand Safety Principles

We will start by discussing digital media brand safety principles, the current digital marketing landscape and reviewing how brand safety can be incorporated into all digital media campaigns.

2:25pm - 2:40pm: BREAK

2:40pm - 3:00pm: eyeReturn Hands-On

As an adserver and audit company with one of the largest adserving footprints in Canada, Eyereturn has more than a decade of experience in delivering brand safety. During this session will detail how to keep your brand safe through a combination of planning best practices and use of technology.

Topics will include whitelist strategies, traffic classification techniques and how to avoid hobbling your campaigns through the over-use of blocking technology.

3:00pm - 3:30pm: comScore Hands-On

Attendees will learn how comScore’s brand safety capabilities can be leveraged on digital campaigns in real-time and uncover how to customize and tailor brand safety for their client’s individual needs. Attendees will also get an opportunity to test-drive comScore’s brand safety portal and hear about brand safety best practices.

3:30pm - 4:30pm: Google Hands-On

Brand Safety controls are not a ‘one-size fits all’ solution. Learn about the brand safety controls and policies that Google offers to ensure ad placement that aligns with the diverse values of advertisers and their brands. During this 90 minute session, Google will review the built-in policies and enforcement controls as well as provide <strong>practical guidance</strong> on how to align brand safety controls with various levels of client conservatism when approaching ad placement on YouTube & DoubleClick.

Topics will include: Google’s Safeguards for Doubleclick Advertisers, Brand control tools on YouTube, implementing brand control settings in AdWords and DBM, how to review where your ads ran, how to use digital content labels and more!

4:30pm - 5:00pm: Facebook Hands-On

Learn what brand safety tools are available on the Facebook platform and how you can effectively use them.
