2016 Internet Ad Revenue grows sharply by 19% to $5.5 billion. Mobile continues to drive the Internet’s expansion, surging 57% to $2.5 billion, now almost 1-in-2 of all Internet ad dollars. Video grows 34%, faster than any other ad format.
NEW FOR 2016: Double digit growth to continue in 2016, with a forecast 21% increase to $5.6 billion in Total Canada, with French Canada approaching $1 billion.
NEW FOR 2015: Canadian Internet ad revenue reached $4.6 billion in 2015, up 21% from 2014, more than $800 million over last year. The Internet increased its lead to +43% over Television’s $3.2 billion in 2015. Mobile (including Tablets) surged to over $1.6 billion, up from $903 million in 2014. With a staggering 79% growth rate, Mobile now accounts for over 1-in-3 digital ad revenue dollars in Canada.
First commissioned in 1998 by the Interactive Advertising Bureau of Canada, this most recent release marks the 18th consecutive year that Canadian Internet advertising revenues are being reported and the 10th consecutive year reporting mobile ad revenues (which also include Tablets).
The results of IAB Canada’s annual Canadian Internet (online & mobile) advertising revenue surveys are considered the most accurate measurement of Canadian interactive advertising revenues. The data is compiled directly from information supplied by Canadian Internet publishers who sell advertising on Canadian websites, online/mobile ad networks and exchanges who sell advertising on both the Canadian and U.S. websites they represent, leading mobile carriers, mobile aggregators, mobile marketing companies and publishers offering mobile advertising solutions (including mobile search advertising).
