Toronto, ON September 15, 2025 –Digital advertising is no longer optional—it’s the lifeblood of growth, visibility, and competitiveness in today’s economy. Recognizing this, IAB Canada has launched Digital Means Business, a first-of-its-kind national initiative to equip Canadian small businesses with everything from practical resources and training to direct connections with Canadian advertising platforms. The online resource hub will offer the tools, know-how, and content needed to compete—and thrive in this highly competitive global landscape.
Small businesses fuel Canada’s economy, representing 64% of private sector employment and almost half (48%) of Canada’s GDP. Yet too many are missing out on the transformative potential of digital advertising, which affords them access to new customers, measurable returns, and the ability to compete in a global marketplace from day one.
“Small businesses play a critical role in our communities and our economy,” said Sonia Carreno, President, IAB Canada. “Digital Means Business was created to ensure they have access to valuable information, tools, Canadian media platforms, and upskilling opportunities so they can compete and succeed in a rapidly evolving market.”
Through the Digital Means Business online platform, small business owners will have access to:
- Practical Information & Resources – User-friendly guides and toolkits to build digital confidence.
- Canadian Media Access – Connections to local publishers and platforms that can help reach the right audiences.
- Upskilling Opportunities – Live and on-demand training to improve digital marketing capabilities.
- Policy Advocacy Resources – A voice in shaping balanced digital advertising policy that reflects the needs of small businesses.
“Digital means business for everyone,” said Carreno. “To ensure Canada’s economic resilience, and global competitiveness, we must invest in accelerating the digital transformation of small businesses. Given their extensive contribution to our national GDP and labour force, ensuring access to effective digital tools and strategies is critical. We are committed to serving them and helping them achieve their business objectives through this new initiative.”
